Cook it - Cheat meal - Whole wheat Pizza



Hello fellow foodies........This is the first post on my blog and I've decided to put up a cheat meal. In other words, a healthy high calorie meal that one eats on cheat days.....
Tip : Don't forget to workout the next day!!!!


Here are the Ingredients : 

First for the base:

  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 Tablespoons dried yeast
  • 1 Teaspoon sugar
  • Salt as required
  • 2 Teaspoons dried oregano 
  • 1 Teaspoon dried parsley  
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive oil

And then the topping :


  • 2 medium sized carrots grated 
  • 1 capsicum (green bell pepper) diced
  • 2 medium sized onions diced
  • 1 medium sized tomato diced
  • 1/2 cup grated pizza cheese
  • 2 Tablespoons pizza sauce


The method :
  1. Mix in a bowl, the flour, salt, sugar, oregano and parsley.
  2. In another bowl dissolve the dried yeast in the warm water to activate it
  3. Pour the water
    ( little by little)in the flour mix and stir.
  4. Knead the flour.
  5. Cover it up with a cloth and wait for an hour for the dough to rise.
  6. Take the required portion of the dough and roll it over an oven pan greased with olive oil. The thickness of the base depends on your preference. I like mine a little soft inside so I roll it till its 1/2 inch thick. The left over base can be frozen and used later.
  7. Brush the top of the base with olive oil to prevent it from becoming soggy.
  8. Start topping. First, a layer of the pizza sauce, and then the onions, tomatoes, capsicum, and carrots. And finally the cheese on top. ( skip the cheese to make it A+ healthy.)



   9. Preheat the oven to 240C degrees and bake the pizza for 15 to 20 minutes, checking in                    between.

      Another way to do it, if you have a combination oven is to put the pizza base in the oven on high       for 2 minutes and then grilling both sides for 2 minute each. This makes the base crisp on the           outside and chewy on the inside. Top the pizza after that and bake it for 15 min at 190C degrees.


  10. To step it up a notch, after the pizza is done, grill it for 2 minutes at the bottom shelf and the               cheese is perfectly roasted.


  11. Season the slices with herbs, sauces or whatever you want! And enjoy!!
